Add it if you have an extra day and are visiting in the right season. It is lower and gentler than the Hemkund climb, but it is also rain-prone and the flowers peak when the monsoon is strongest.

Why it matters
Why Valley of Flowers National Park is worth your time
The Valley of Flowers is part of the Nanda Devi and Valley of Flowers National Parks World Heritage Site. It lies about 3 km from the village of Ghangaria and has its own Raahzo guide.
For pilgrims, it is a popular second stop after Hemkund Sahib, and the two share the same base and the same trail from Govindghat. It also gives a pilgrimage trip a second, quite different character, with a day spent on meadows and river valleys instead of prayer halls and steep paved steps.

How to experience it
Start early from Ghangaria with water, a poncho and snacks. The path follows the Pushpawati river through forest, then opens into meadows. There are no shops inside the park, so carry what you need and turn back at your own pace.
The valley is best from about mid July to mid August, when the flowers peak, though that is also monsoon season and the path can be wet and slippery. Early season brings snow patches, and September has fewer flowers but clearer skies.
If your time is limited, choose between Hemkund Sahib and the valley for your single day at Ghangaria, or give yourself an extra day to see both without rushing.
