3 days in Jampui Hills
- 01
Day 1: Arrival
Drive up from Agartala or the railway, rest at Vanghmun and walk through the village in the late afternoon.
- 02
Day 2: Ridge walk and peak
Fit walkers spend the day on the Jampui Hills Trek along the ridge to Betlingchhip with a local guide. Others drive to the peak area and to the southern villages such as Phuldungsei, and meet up for sunset.
Stop Time needed Walking Best time Jampui Hills Trek A full day; shorter sections in 2 to 4 hours Moderate October to February; avoid April to September rains Pace: Moderate walking today — plan a sit-down break between stops.
With parents at Jampui Hills Trek: The ridge is not high, but the walk involves long distances on village roads and footpaths with ups and downs, and the final climb to the watchtower is steep. Older travellers should not attempt the full route; they can drive along the ridge, stop at viewpoints and walk short, level stretches in Vanghmun while fitter family members trek.

Day 3: Villages and departure
Visit a village church and orange gardens in the morning, then drive down towards Kumarghat, Dharmanagar or Unakoti.

Pacing
Pacing a Jampui Hills trip for parents and children
- Break the long road journey; do not attempt Agartala to Jampui and back in a day.
- Book Eden Tourist Lodge or a homestay well ahead for October to March, and confirm bathroom and hot-water facilities.
- Pack warm layers: nights on the ridge are cool, especially from December to February.
- Most views can be enjoyed from the road or a short walk; leave the climb to the Betlingchhip watchtower to fitter family members.
- Medical facilities are limited; the nearest sub-divisional hospital is at Kanchanpur, so carry all medicines.
- Avoid the monsoon months, when roads are wet and landslips possible.
