Area by area

Jhalawar neighbourhoods compared

  1. 01

    Civil Lines

Best for: Quiet, comfortable stays and heritage homes

Good to know: A calm residential area with the heritage home Prithvi Vilas Palace. Reaching the palace and bazaar takes a short ride, and options are limited, so book ahead.

Hotels we cover here: Prithvi Vilas Palace

  2. 02

Near Garh Palace and Bada Bazar

Best for: Walking to the museum and market

Good to know: Central, with simple hotels and quick access to the palace and food stalls. It is busier and noisier than Civil Lines, so ask for rooms away from the road.

  3. 03

Patan Road and the edge of town

Best for: Budget travellers and drivers

Good to know: Government-run and simple private hotels lie along the roads leaving town. They are easy for road arrivals but have fewer walkable options; confirm room quality before paying.

  1. 01

    Prithvi Vilas Palace

Civil Lines, Jhalawar · Heritage stay · Price band: ₹₹

A former royal hunting lodge in Civil Lines, locally called Darbar ki Kothi, now a family-run heritage home with a small number of guest rooms.

For older travellers: A low-rise heritage home with a garden setting. Confirm room location and stair access when booking, as older buildings may have steps and uneven floors.

Before you book

What to check when booking for older travellers

  • Ask for a lift, or a ground-floor room — many heritage hotels have steps and no lift.
  • Check how far the hotel is from the sights you care about, in minutes by road, not kilometres.
  • Prefer free cancellation until close to the date, in case plans or health change.
  • Look for 24-hour reception, in-house dining and a doctor-on-call policy.
  • Read recent reviews for noise — old-city streets and wedding venues can be loud late.
