Why it matters

Why Sai Yok Noi Waterfall is worth your time

Sai Yok Noi, also called Khao Phang Waterfall, is part of the Sai Yok National Park area and is the most popular attraction there. Its limestone cliffs rise about 15 metres beside the province's main road.

Its position next to the road and the railway terminus makes it the easiest way to include a waterfall in a day that is mostly about history. For older travellers who cannot manage Erawan's trail, it is a pleasant and low-effort alternative.

Plan your visit

How to experience it

This is the easiest waterfall in the area: it sits beside the main road with parking nearby, so there is almost no walk. The falls drop over limestone cliffs of about 15 metres, and there are shaded viewing areas and stalls. It is an easy stop on the way to or from Hellfire Pass, or at the end of the train ride, since Nam Tok station is close.

Visit in the morning when it is cooler. During the rainy season the volume is highest, and in the dry months the flow is gentler, with the rocks more visible. You can paddle in the shallows, but follow signs and do not climb the rocks.

For a longer visit, continue into Sai Yok National Park, but for most people this is a simple stop of an hour with a snack, a look at the water and a rest from the road.

Plan with confidence

Small decisions that make the visit easier.

  • Go in the morning
  • Wear shoes with grip
  • Do not climb on the wet rocks
