Before you go
Kaulas with elderly parents: what to know
- Treat this as a demanding day; the road is long and the fort ground is rough.
- Hire a car with a driver who knows the final unsigned stretch.
- Carry water, food and a first-aid kit; there are no facilities.
- Go in cool months and start early.
- Sit out the full circuit if you tire; the gate and outer bastions are rewarding.
- Tell someone your plan; phone signal may be patchy.
