Why it matters
Why Secret Buddha Garden (Magic Garden) is worth your time
The garden is a private act of devotion that has become a tourist site, built by hand on a hillside over about fourteen years. It sits outside the standard temple circuit and shows a more personal side of Thai religious art.
Because the terrain is demanding, it is best left to fit visitors. Older travellers might prefer Wat Plai Laem for sculpture and calm. It is also a good example of vernacular religious art in Thailand: hand-made figures placed in a natural setting, with no formal architecture around them.
