Day 1: Fort tower and Nawabi tomb
Start early at Konda Reddy Buruju and climb to the upper floors for a view across the city while the air is still cool. Drive to the tomb of Abdul Wahab Khan beside the Handri river, then break for lunch and rest through the hot afternoon. If you have energy left, make the short run out to Orvakal Rock Garden before dusk, or simply spend the evening around the Tungabhadra riverfront.

With parents at Konda Reddy Buruju: There are steps and uneven stone floors between levels, and handrails or seating may be missing in places. Older visitors can enjoy the outside and the lower areas, and leave the top floor to the more agile in the group.
With parents at Orvakal Rock Garden: Paths and rock surfaces can be uneven and exposed to the sun, with little shade. Older visitors can enjoy the view from the edges and avoid climbing.

Day 2: Alampur and Rollapadu
Spend the morning at the Navabrahma temples in Alampur. Then, only if it is the dry season, drive on to Rollapadu Wildlife Sanctuary for late-afternoon bird and blackbuck watching, allowing for slow rural roads.
Stop Time needed Walking Best time Rollapadu Wildlife Sanctuary Half a day to a full day including travel Moderate October to April, early morning or late afternoon Pace: Moderate walking today — plan a sit-down break between stops.
With parents at Rollapadu Wildlife Sanctuary: Most viewing is from a vehicle or short walks across level ground, but there is very little shade and facilities are limited. Older visitors should go in the cooler months, carry water and avoid midday.

Day 3: Belum, Yaganti or Mahanandi
Choose one long day trip. Belum Caves suits families who enjoy something unusual; Yaganti and Mahanandi suit travellers interested in temples and sacred springs. Combining Belum with Yaganti is possible, since the two are within the same part of Nandyal district, but it makes for a full day.
Stop Time needed Walking Best time Belum Caves 3–4 hours including the visit, plus 2+ hours each way Demanding Morning to early afternoon; October to March Pace: Belum Caves involves a lot of walking or steps — do it early, and keep the rest of the day light.
With parents at Belum Caves: A staircase leads down at the entrance, headroom is low at one point and the route is long, with a climb back out. There is little seating inside, so it is not ideal for those with knee or breathing problems.

Pacing
Pacing a Kurnool trip for parents and children
- Do city sights in the first hours after sunrise; from March to June the afternoon heat is severe, and a rest at the hotel is essential.
- Konda Reddy Buruju has steps and uneven stone floors; older visitors can see the lower level and the outside, and leave the upper floors to others.
- For Belum Caves, remember the cave involves a staircase down at the entrance and a long walk back up; confirm with the staff that it suits your parents.
- Hire a car with a driver for rural sites. Buses are infrequent and some sites are several kilometres off the highway.
- Carry drinking water, snacks and any medicines for day trips, as toilets and food stalls near the sights are limited.
- Temple visits involve walking barefoot on stone that can be very hot at midday; go early or carry thick socks if the temple allows them.
