Area by area

Kurnool neighbourhoods compared

  1. 01

Around Kurnool City railway station and the bus stand

Best for: Short stays, train arrivals and early starts

Good to know: The most convenient area for onward transport and for Konda Reddy Buruju, which is about 2 km from the station. Expect traffic and noise. Check the room and lift access before you book if travelling with elders.

  2. 02

Highway-side hotels (NH 44 and airport road)

Best for: Drivers, families with a car and quiet evenings

Good to know: Newer hotels along the highway are easier for cars and parking, but farther from the old city. Useful if you are flying into Orvakal or driving on towards Bengaluru or Hyderabad.

  3. 03

Nandyal (for Mahanandi, Yaganti and Rollapadu)

Best for: Travellers focusing on the eastern district sights

Good to know: Nandyal is the nearest town to Mahanandi and a closer base for Rollapadu than Kurnool. Choices are simpler, so book ahead and confirm what facilities are offered.

Sights in this area: Mahanandi Temple, Rollapadu Wildlife Sanctuary, Yaganti Uma Maheswara Temple

Before you book

What to check when booking for older travellers

  • Ask for a lift, or a ground-floor room — many heritage hotels have steps and no lift.
  • Check how far the hotel is from the sights you care about, in minutes by road, not kilometres.
  • Prefer free cancellation until close to the date, in case plans or health change.
  • Look for 24-hour reception, in-house dining and a doctor-on-call policy.
  • Read recent reviews for noise — old-city streets and wedding venues can be loud late.
