How to reach Kuta by air
Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) is at Tuban, right beside Kuta, and is usually about 10 to 20 minutes by road to central Kuta, traffic dependent. Direct flights from some Indian cities have been reported, but schedules change, so check airline timetables; many itineraries connect via Southeast Asian hubs.
How to reach Kuta by train
There is no passenger railway to Kuta or Bali that visitors can use; no railway station serves the area. Arrive by air and continue by road.
How to reach Kuta by road
Kuta is linked to Denpasar, about 12 km to the north, and to Seminyak, Nusa Dua and Ubud by main roads. Traffic is heavy, especially in the afternoon and evening, so allow extra time for transfers.
Getting around Kuta
Taxis and ride-hailing apps are the simplest way to get around. Central Kuta is walkable but crowded, and Poppies Lanes are scooter and pedestrian only. Scooter rental is common but needs the right licence.
For parents and senior travellers
Easy transfers to and in Kuta
- Take taxis or ride-hailing cars for anything beyond a short walk; pavements are uneven and scooters use them.
- Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
- Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
- Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
