Guides for the stops on these routes
Pacing
Pacing a Lohajung trip for parents and children
- Break the journey at Gwaldam or Karnaprayag rather than driving to Lohajung in a single day.
- Lohajung is at about 2,300 m and very cold from December to February; bring thermal layers and a hot-water bottle.
- There is no hospital in the village; carry all medicines and know where the nearest health centre is before you go.
- Older parents who are not trekking can stay in the village and visit Wan by jeep while others trek.
- Avoid July and August, when landslides frequently close the approach roads.
- Arrange a car with a driver who knows the Pindar valley roads.
