Guides for the stops on these routes
Pacing
Pacing a Maihar trip for parents and children
- Take the ropeway or vehicle road to the temple. The stairway has more than a thousand steps and is hard on knees, especially going down.
- Avoid Navratri, New Year's Day and weekends if you cannot manage a long queue; a quiet weekday morning is far easier.
- Published darshan, aarti and ropeway timings disagree. Confirm them locally the evening before you go.
- Choose a hotel near the temple road, ask for a ground-floor room and keep the afternoon free for rest.
- Carry water, a hat, a light stole or shawl for cool mornings, and keep valuables minimal in the crowd.
- Facilities are modest. Bring regular medicines, and note that the nearest larger hospitals are in Satna or Katni.
