JEN Maldives Malé by Shangri-La
Central Malé Island, a short walk from the speedboat jetty · City hotel · Price band: ₹₹₹
A central high-rise hotel on Malé Island with a rooftop infinity pool, formerly Hotel Jen and Traders. It is a straightforward city base for seeing the historic core on foot.
For older travellers: Two lifts run between the lobby and the rooftop, so stairs should not be an issue, and the airport transfer is arranged for guests. Rooms are reported as smaller than average for the city, so ask for layout details if you need room for a wheelchair or walker.

Before you book
What to check when booking for older travellers
- Ask for a lift, or a ground-floor room — many heritage hotels have steps and no lift.
- Check how far the hotel is from the sights you care about, in minutes by road, not kilometres.
- Prefer free cancellation until close to the date, in case plans or health change.
- Look for 24-hour reception, in-house dining and a doctor-on-call policy.
- Read recent reviews for noise — old-city streets and wedding venues can be loud late.
