Ham Tien resort strip
Best for: First-timers who want a beach hotel with a pool, restaurants and tour desks
Good to know: The main resort stretch along Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street, about 15 km long, with most hotels, kitesurfing schools and cafes. The sand shifts with the season, and some sections have concrete sea walls instead of a wide beach, so check recent photos before booking. Inland budget hotels may require walking through a resort to reach the sea.
- 02
Mui Ne village and fishing harbour
Best for: Travellers who prefer a local feel and early harbour visits
Good to know: The north-eastern end of the bay near the harbour and market, with smaller guesthouses and local eateries. It is quieter and cheaper, but there are fewer pool resorts and fewer English-language services, and the beach has litter in places.
- 03
Phu Hai and the Phan Thiet side
Best for: Travellers who want to be near the Cham towers, the city and the train station
Good to know: The western end, closer to Phan Thiet city, its markets and Po Sah Inu. It is further from the dunes and kitesurfing beaches, so you will rely on taxis or a hired car for most outings.
- 04
Near the Red Sand Dunes
Best for: Travellers wanting a large garden resort away from the main strip
Good to know: A few resorts sit on the north-eastern side near the dunes. They offer space and quiet but you will depend on the hotel shuttle for dining out.

Before you book
What to check when booking for older travellers
- Ask for a lift, or a ground-floor room — many heritage hotels have steps and no lift.
- Check how far the hotel is from the sights you care about, in minutes by road, not kilometres.
- Prefer free cancellation until close to the date, in case plans or health change.
- Look for 24-hour reception, in-house dining and a doctor-on-call policy.
- Read recent reviews for noise — old-city streets and wedding venues can be loud late.
