Day 1: Fort, temple and lake
Start at Nizamabad Fort in the morning and climb to the Qilla Ramalayam while the stone is cool. Stop at Neela Kanteshwar Temple on the way back for a short darshan, then rest through the heat after lunch. In the late afternoon drive out to Alisagar for the lawns and deer park and be back in the city by dark.
Stop Time needed Walking Best time Nizamabad Fort 1-2 hours Moderate Early morning or late afternoon, October to February Neela Kanteshwar Temple 30-45 minutes Easy Morning; Mondays and festivals are busy Pace: Moderate walking today — plan a sit-down break between stops.
With parents at Nizamabad Fort: A motorable road reaches the foot of the hill, but the way up to the summit temple is a stairway. Shade is patchy, seating is limited and some inner rooms are closed or ruined, so older visitors may be happiest with the lower levels and the view from partway up.

Guides for the stops on these routes
Pacing
Pacing a Nizamabad trip for parents and children
- Plan one major sight a day and rest after lunch; summer afternoons often exceed 40C.
- Dichpally has about 105 steps and the fort has a climb to the summit temple, so older visitors can enjoy the lower levels and views instead.
- Alisagar and the Deval Masjid at Bodhan are the most level outings.
- Hire a car for the day to reach Dichpally, Alisagar and Bodhan, and agree the fare in advance.
- Carry water and snacks; facilities at the sights are minimal.
- Dress modestly and carry shoes that slip off easily for temples.
