Plan 01
1 day in Noonu Atoll

Day 1: Manadhoo and a nearby island
Land at Maafaru and take a short speedboat transfer to Manadhoo, the atoll capital. Walk the harbour and civic area with a host, then visit a nearby local island such as Velidhoo for lunch and a snorkel or beach stop if your host arranges it. A single day is a sampler: confirm boat times, keep the afternoon free for weather and return to Maafaru in good time for any onward flight.

Day 3: Reef day
Spend a morning on the reef: lagoon snorkelling for most guests, or a dive at Christmas Tree Rock for certified divers. Keep the afternoon free for rest and packing before your return transfer.
Stop Time needed Walking Best time Christmas Tree Rock One dive of 40 to 60 minutes; a half-day with transfers Moderate December to April for visibility; June is often rough Pace: Moderate walking today — plan a sit-down break between stops.
With parents at Christmas Tree Rock: The challenge is depth and boat handling, not walking. Divers need current certification and good health; older divers should check fitness with the dive centre first.

Pacing
Pacing a Noonu Atoll trip for parents and children
- Share your full itinerary with your resort or guesthouse so they can plan boat and flight transfers. Ask about help with boarding boats.
- Carry prescription medicines in original packaging with a doctor's letter; some medicines are controlled in the Maldives, so check the rules in advance.
- Only the hospitals in Malé and Hulhumalé are fully equipped, so buy travel insurance that covers local treatment and evacuation.
- Keep outdoor time to mornings and late afternoons, and use shade, a hat and water; the island heat is steady all year.
- Choose a resort or guesthouse with step-free paths and ask about buggies and distances to restaurants.
- Keep at least one buffer day before an international flight in case of weather or flight changes.
