Plan 01

1 day in Nusa Dua

  1. 01

Day 1: Sunrise beach, museum and evening show

Start at sunrise on Nusa Dua Beach, when the east-facing shore is quiet and cool. After breakfast, visit Museum Pasifika for a slow indoor morning, then have lunch at Bali Collection. Rest through the afternoon. Around late afternoon, go to Water Blow if the tide is high, then end with dinner and, on a show night, the Devdan Show at the Bali Nusa Dua Theatre.

    StopTime neededWalkingBest time
Nusa Dua Beach1 to 3 hours, or a whole morningEasySunrise and early morning; May to September for the driest weather
Museum Pasifika1.5 to 2.5 hoursEasyLate morning or mid-afternoon, to escape the heat; any month of the year
Bali Collection1.5 to 3 hoursEasyLate afternoon to evening, when the heat eases
Water Blow30 to 45 minutesEasyAround high tide, with strong southern winds; late afternoon is cooler
Devdan ShowAbout 75 minutes plus arrivalEasyEvening; the show runs on selected nights

Pace: All the stops today are easy on the legs.

Plan 02

2 days in Nusa Dua

  1. 01

Day 1: Beach, museum and Water Blow

Walk the beach at sunrise, then spend the late morning at Museum Pasifika. After lunch and a rest, visit Water Blow near high tide and finish with a stroll through Bali Collection and dinner at one of its Indian restaurants.

    StopTime neededWalkingBest time
Water Blow30 to 45 minutesEasyAround high tide, with strong southern winds; late afternoon is cooler
Museum Pasifika1.5 to 2.5 hoursEasyLate morning or mid-afternoon, to escape the heat; any month of the year
Bali Collection1.5 to 3 hoursEasyLate afternoon to evening, when the heat eases

Pace: All the stops today are easy on the legs.

  2. 02

Day 2: Faiths, coves and cliffs

Go early to Puja Mandala to see the five houses of worship, then drive south to Pandawa Beach for the Pandava statues and a short beach stop. Return for lunch and a rest, then visit Geger Beach in the late afternoon and watch the sunset. Have a quiet dinner in Benoa.

    StopTime neededWalkingBest time
Puja Mandala1 to 2 hoursEasyEarly morning or late afternoon; weekdays are quieter
Pandawa Beach2 to 3 hoursModerateMorning, May to September for drier weather
Geger Beach1 to 2 hoursModerateEarly morning or late afternoon; low tide for walking, with care

Pace: Moderate walking today — plan a sit-down break between stops.

With parents at Pandawa Beach: The car park is above the beach, and the road cut through the cliff gives a gradual descent, but the beach itself has little shade and soft sand. Pick a time outside midday and bring water.

With parents at Geger Beach: The beach is flat, but reaching the temple or the cliff involves steps and stone paths, and facilities are limited. Wear sturdy shoes and carry water.

Guides for the stops on these routes

Pacing

Pacing a Nusa Dua trip for parents and children

  • Choose a resort with lifts or ground-floor rooms and a short, level walk to the beach. The enclave is flat, but the heat is not.
  • Do the beach at sunrise or late afternoon and rest in the middle of the day. Midday sun is strong year round and shade on the sand is limited.
  • Water Blow and Puja Mandala are easy, short outings; Geger temple and the Pandawa approach involve steps and uneven ground.
  • Book a hospital-aware trip: BIMC Hospital Nusa Dua runs a 24-hour emergency centre, and good travel insurance with medical evacuation cover matters.
  • Ask hotels to arrange a car with an English-speaking driver for day outings; ride-hailing pick-ups near resorts and the airport can be restricted.
  • Carry a scarf or sarong for temple visits, and keep prescription medicines in labelled original packaging in hand luggage.
