- 01
Nusa Dua resort enclave (ITDC area)
Best for: Families and older travellers who want calm water, level paths and security
Good to know: Mostly five-star resorts on the beachfront, with a paved coastal path, Bali Collection and Museum Pasifika close by. Prices are the highest in the area, and meals outside your hotel require a car or short taxi ride. Ask about lifts, ground-floor rooms and beach access.
Sights in this area: Nusa Dua Beach
- 02
Tanjung Benoa
Best for: Families who want water sports and lower prices
Good to know: A narrow peninsula north of the enclave with beachfront hotels and operators for banana boats, jet skis and snorkelling. It is livelier and less polished, and the beach is busier. Choose a hotel away from the loudest operators.
- 03
Benoa and Jalan Pratama
Best for: Budget travellers and those who want Indian restaurants within walking distance
Good to know: The road along the peninsula has guesthouses, small hotels and several Indian restaurants. It is not on the beach and is busier with traffic, but dining is cheaper. Check distances to the beach and pavement quality.
- 04
Sawangan and Geger (south end)
Best for: Travellers wanting a quieter southern edge
Good to know: Close to Geger Beach and the cliff temple, with fewer facilities and longer drives to restaurants. Best for those with their own transport.

Before you book
What to check when booking for older travellers
- Ask for a lift, or a ground-floor room — many heritage hotels have steps and no lift.
- Check how far the hotel is from the sights you care about, in minutes by road, not kilometres.
- Prefer free cancellation until close to the date, in case plans or health change.
- Look for 24-hour reception, in-house dining and a doctor-on-call policy.
- Read recent reviews for noise — old-city streets and wedding venues can be loud late.
