Area by area

Nusa Lembongan neighbourhoods compared

  1. 01

    Jungut Batu

Best for: First-timers who want restaurants, dive shops and a beach on the doorstep

Good to know: The main base, with budget bungalows and mid-range stays along the north-west beach. Landings are on the beach, so expect wet feet, and choose a stay close to the sand.

  2. 02

    Mushroom Bay

Best for: Families and couples who want a calm swimming bay

Good to know: A sheltered west-coast bay with safer swimming and good snorkelling at high tide. Fewer shops than Jungut Batu; some stays are on slopes.

  3. 03

Lembongan village and the yellow bridge

Best for: Travellers who want quiet and a village feel

Good to know: The southern side is more residential and close to seaweed farms and the bridge. Fewer restaurants, so a scooter or truck helps.

  4. 04

    Nusa Ceningan

Best for: Quiet-seeking travellers happy with limited choice

Good to know: Small guesthouses at the south-west tip, reached by the bridge. Services are thin, so plan meals and transfers ahead.

Before you book

What to check when booking for older travellers

  • Ask for a lift, or a ground-floor room — many heritage hotels have steps and no lift.
  • Check how far the hotel is from the sights you care about, in minutes by road, not kilometres.
  • Prefer free cancellation until close to the date, in case plans or health change.
  • Look for 24-hour reception, in-house dining and a doctor-on-call policy.
  • Read recent reviews for noise — old-city streets and wedding venues can be loud late.
