Key hubs

Palolem Beach airport and railway station

Nearest airport
Dabolim (GOI), about 60 to 65 km north, roughly 1.5 to 2 hours by road. Mopa (GOX) is much further away, well over 100 km, so GOI is the practical choice.
Nearest railway station
Canacona (CNO) on the Konkan Railway, about 2 to 3 km from the beach; Madgaon Junction (MAO) is the main railhead, about 35 km away
Getting around
Walking along the beach and village lanes, autos and taxis for Canacona and Patnem, scooter hire for the coast, and a hired car for Cotigao and Cabo de Rama

How to reach Palolem Beach by air

Dabolim airport (GOI) is about 60 to 65 km north, roughly 1.5 to 2 hours by pre-paid taxi or hired car. Manohar International Airport at Mopa (GOX) is in North Goa and well over 100 km away, so it is far less convenient for Palolem.

How to reach Palolem Beach by train

Canacona (CNO) on the Konkan Railway is about 2 to 3 km from the beach and is served by local and passenger trains. Madgaon Junction (MAO) is the main railhead, about 35 km away, with more long-distance trains; take a taxi or bus onward.

How to reach Palolem Beach by road

Palolem is off the Karwar to Margao highway (NH 66) near Chaudi. Buses run from Margao towards Canacona, and from the Chaudi turning you can take an auto or taxi of about 2 to 3 km to the beach. A taxi from the airport is the easiest option.

Getting around Palolem Beach

Walking is the main way around the beach and lanes. Autos and taxis cover Chaudi, Patnem and the station, scooters can be hired locally, and a car and driver is easiest for Cotigao and Cabo de Rama.

Easy transfers to and in Palolem Beach

  • Use a car or taxi for Cotigao, Cabo de Rama and Chaudi. Autos are fine for short hops, but agree the fare before you start.
  • Bring a torch, a hat, closed shoes for the rocks and reef-safe sunscreen. Carry cash in small notes, as cards are not accepted everywhere.
  • Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
  • Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
  • Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
