  1. 01

    Sankri village lanes

Best for: Trekkers and travellers who want to be at the trailhead

Good to know: Homestays and small lodges cluster in and around the village. Facilities are basic, with limited hot water and heating; confirm bedding and warmth in winter.

  2. 02

    Purola

Best for: A break on the long drive, or travellers who need ATMs and reliable signal

Good to know: Purola is the last place before the trek where you can usually get a stable mobile signal and an ATM. It suits a first night on the road in or out.

  3. 03

    Mori and the Tons valley

Best for: River-focused stays in the rafting season

Good to know: Seasonal river camps operate around Mori roughly from mid-April to mid-July. They are comfortable options if you want a night before the final push to Sankri.

  4. 04

    Osla homestays (on the trek)

Best for: Trekkers wanting a village night inside the park

Good to know: Osla has simple homestays, but no road, grid electricity or mobile network. Reachable only on foot.

Before you book

What to check when booking for older travellers

  • Ask for a lift, or a ground-floor room — many heritage hotels have steps and no lift.
  • Check how far the hotel is from the sights you care about, in minutes by road, not kilometres.
  • Prefer free cancellation until close to the date, in case plans or health change.
  • Look for 24-hour reception, in-house dining and a doctor-on-call policy.
  • Read recent reviews for noise — old-city streets and wedding venues can be loud late.
