Why it matters

Why Singapore Oceanarium is worth your time

The oceanarium is one of the attractions in Marine Life Park, which Resorts World Sentosa opened on 22 November 2012 as S.E.A. Aquarium. At that time it was described as the largest aquarium in the world by total water volume, with about 45 million litres across its tanks and a main tank of about 18 million litres.

For travellers from India, the practical point is that this is one of the easiest Sentosa attractions for a multigenerational group. It is cool, indoors, largely level and works in any weather. Do check the current exhibits on the official site, since the 2025 rebuild changed the layout.

Plan your visit

How to experience it

Treat the Open Ocean habitat as the centrepiece and give it time. The tank holds schooling fish, rays, sharks and reef manta rays behind a very wide window, and there are benches in front of it where a slow family can stop and watch. From there, walk through the tunnel-style exhibits and the shipwreck display before deciding whether to continue to the remaining zones.

After the 2025 rebrand, the oceanarium was expanded to 22 zones, up from 10 when it opened. Rather than rushing through them all, pick the ones that match your group. Children will like the Discovery Touch Pool, where sea stars and sea cucumbers can be handled with guidance, and the Ocean Diversity zone, which includes bottlenose dolphins. Corals are concentrated in the Underwater City.

It is a smooth first stop if the family arrives in the morning, and it pairs well with an afternoon at the beach or a walk along the Sensoryscape.
