Sharjah guide · Where to eat
Places to eat in Sharjah, with what to order and how comfortable each is for families and older travellers.
Updated
Sharjah is a dry emirate: alcohol is not served in hotels or restaurants. Food is Gulf, Lebanese and above all South Asian, because a large share of residents come from India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Arabic coffee with dates is the local welcome, and the coffee shops in the Heart of Sharjah are a good place to try it.
Vegetarian eating needs a little planning. MyGovindas on King Faisal Street is verified from its own site and offers dishes made without root vegetables; Saarangaa Bhojan Shala in Al Khan is described as pure vegetarian in a directory, and Kamat and Madeenat Haridwar are listed as vegetarian by travel guides. Many Indian-run restaurants across the city serve vegetarian thalis and dosas, but we have not tagged those without a source. Hotels will usually make a plain vegetarian meal if you ask in advance, and Jain travellers should confirm preparation with the kitchen and carry dry snacks. Dubai, a short drive away, has more verified options.
Menus and kitchens change. If you follow a strict diet or have an allergy, confirm with the restaurant before you order.
