Day 1: Temple and river
Arrive early from Tirupati. Start at the river ghat for the view of the temple and the hill, then join the darshan queue at Srikalahasteeswara Temple, taking in the Rajagopuram and the goddess Jnanaprasunambika's shrine. If you want the Rahu-Ketu puja, do it first thing. After lunch and a rest, visit a Kalamkari studio before heading back.
Stop Time needed Walking Best time Srikalahasteeswara Temple Half a day (about 3-4 hours including queues) Moderate Early morning on a weekday; avoid Maha Shivaratri and festival days unless you want the crowds Pace: Moderate walking today — plan a sit-down break between stops.
With parents at Srikalahasteeswara Temple: Level stone floors and long corridors, with queues that can run for an hour or more on busy days. Footwear comes off outside, so stone can be hot by midday. Ask staff about priority or wheelchair arrangements for elders, and carry water and a hat for the approach.
