1 day in Todgarh

   Day 1: Sanctuary and shrine

   Arrange permission with the forest department beforehand, then drive in early. Take the Katar Ghati road to Dudhaleshwar Mahadev, spend an hour at the spring and shrine, and walk a short forest track with a guide. If you are visiting in the rains, add Bheelberi Falls. Eat packed food and leave the forest before dark unless you have booked a rest house.

2 days in Todgarh

1. 01

   Day 1: Dudhaleshwar and the forest

   Enter the sanctuary in the morning, visit Dudhaleshwar Mahadev and the forest tracks around it, rest at midday, and look for birds and tracks in the cooler late afternoon.

2. 02

   Day 2: Bheelberi Falls and Dewair

   Visit Bheelberi Falls by the jeep trail (best in the monsoon), then drive to Dewair for the battlefield and its history before heading on to Rajsamand or Kumbhalgarh.

3 days in Todgarh

1. 01

   Day 1: Arrive and settle

   Drive in from Beawar, Ajmer or Udaipur, check in to a rest house or hotel, and take a gentle walk near the town at dusk.

2. 02

   Day 2: Sanctuary day

   Do the forest with a guide in the morning, Dudhaleshwar at midday and Bheelberi Falls (if flowing) in the afternoon.

Pacing

Pacing a Todgarh trip for parents and children

• Confirm forest department permission and rest-house availability well before you travel.
• Hire a car with a driver who knows the route, and expect winding, narrow roads.
• Carry water, regular medicines and snacks, because there are no shops or clinics near the shrine and falls.
• Wear closed shoes with a good grip for the Bheelberi trail and forest tracks.
• Visit between November and February. Avoid the monsoon if you dislike slippery paths and muddy tracks.
• Choose a hotel in Beawar or Ajmer if you need a lift, steady power and a nearby hospital.
