Central sectors near the railway station and Mahatma Mandir (Sectors 11 to 16)
Best for: First-time visitors who want to reach Dandi Kutir, Mahatma Mandir and the station easily
Good to know: The most convenient base, with business hotels including a large hotel built above Gandhinagar Capital station. Roads are wide and quiet, but you will still need a cab for Akshardham, Indroda and the villages.
- 02
GIFT City and Sabarmati edge
Best for: Business travellers and those who want modern, planned surroundings
Good to know: Newer towers and some serviced options, with an Ahmedabad Metro station. The area is quiet after office hours, and restaurants and shops are fewer than in the older sectors, so check what is open nearby.
- 03
Airport side of Ahmedabad
Best for: Early flights, late arrivals and travellers also visiting Ahmedabad
Good to know: Hotels on the Ahmedabad side of the Sabarmati cut transfer time and make Ahmedabad sights easy. You trade away Gandhinagar's calm and add traffic on the highway to the capital, so allow extra time for morning trips.

Before you book
What to check when booking for older travellers
- Ask for a lift, or a ground-floor room — many heritage hotels have steps and no lift.
- Check how far the hotel is from the sights you care about, in minutes by road, not kilometres.
- Prefer free cancellation until close to the date, in case plans or health change.
- Look for 24-hour reception, in-house dining and a doctor-on-call policy.
- Read recent reviews for noise — old-city streets and wedding venues can be loud late.
