The short answer

Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park: what visitors should know first

Go if you have children or teenagers. It is the main outdoor attraction on the hill, and a full day is easy to fill. Older travellers can enjoy the gentler rides and the walk, but it is hilly and the weather turns wet.

History and context

The story behind Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park

The park was first announced in 2013 as 20th Century Fox World. After Disney's acquisition and a 2019 settlement, it was renamed Genting SkyWorlds. It replaced the earlier Genting outdoor theme park and soft-opened on 8 February 2022.

Why it matters

Why Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park is worth your time

Genting SkyWorlds replaced the older outdoor theme park that closed in 2013 and was announced as 20th Century Fox World before the Disney acquisition changed the branding. It soft-opened on 8 February 2022 and is now the central attraction of the resort.

For families with children, it is the reason many people travel to Genting at all. For others, it is mostly useful as context: it explains why the resort is full of families, and it gives a sense of the scale of the investment made in the Genting Integrated Tourism Plan.

Plan your visit

How to experience it

Buy tickets in advance online if possible, and download the park's app before you arrive. The park has used a virtual queue system so guests book attractions on their phone rather than standing in line at every ride.

The park has nine lands, using properties licensed from 20th Century Studios, including Ice Age, Rio, Robots and Epic. Younger children will enjoy Ice Age and Rio. Teens gravitate to the rides in Andromeda Base and the dark rides in Liberty Lane and Central Park. A few rides may be closed for maintenance, so check what is running on the day.

SkyWorlds is outdoors, so carry a raincoat and a light jacket. The mountain weather changes quickly, and mist and showers are common. Plan food and rest breaks around SkyAvenue, which is next door, and leave the evening free for the lights.

Plan with confidence

Small decisions that make the visit easier.

  • Book tickets and download the park app before you arrive
  • Carry a raincoat and a warm layer
  • Check which rides are closed on the day
  • Arrive early on weekdays to avoid crowds
  • Plan rest breaks at SkyAvenue next door

FAQs

Is Genting SkyWorlds indoors or outdoors?

Outdoors. It is a 26-acre open-air park on the hill, so bring rain and cold protection.

Is it suitable for grandparents?

Parts of it are. Gentler rides and shows can be enjoyed, but the park is hilly and has queues, so rest breaks matter.

Do I need to book in advance?

Check the official site; tickets and a virtual queue app have been used, and booking ahead is sensible at busy times.
