Area by area

Murud Janjira neighbourhoods compared

  1. 01

    Murud beach road

Best for: Families and anyone who wants to walk to the sand and sunset

Good to know: Most resorts and lodges are along or just behind the beach. Rooms with sea views are common but ask for ground-floor rooms or a lift if stairs are hard. Evenings can be noisy on weekends.

  2. 02

    Near Rajapuri jetty

Best for: An early start for the fort crossing

Good to know: A few kilometres from the town centre, close to where boats leave. Fewer hotels and restaurants, so you will usually eat near the jetty or travel into town in the evening.

  3. 03

    Nandgaon

Best for: Quieter stays away from the weekend crowd

Good to know: A village about 8 km from Murud with farm stays, homestays and a calmer beach. You will need a car or an auto for sights in Murud.

Sights in this area: Siddhivinayak Temple, Nandgaon

  4. 04

    Kashid

Best for: A beach-first stay with Korlai and Phansad nearby

Good to know: About 15 to 25 km north of Murud depending on the source. Hotels are set back from the beach rather than on it, and most guests eat at their hotel.

Sights in this area: Kashid Beach, Korlai Fort and Lighthouse

Before you book

What to check when booking for older travellers

  • Ask for a lift, or a ground-floor room — many heritage hotels have steps and no lift.
  • Check how far the hotel is from the sights you care about, in minutes by road, not kilometres.
  • Prefer free cancellation until close to the date, in case plans or health change.
  • Look for 24-hour reception, in-house dining and a doctor-on-call policy.
  • Read recent reviews for noise — old-city streets and wedding venues can be loud late.
