Why it matters
Why Pratumnak Hill Viewpoints is worth your time
Pattaya is a long, flat city, so a high viewpoint changes how you understand it. From Khao Phra Tamnak, between Pattaya Beach and Jomtien, you can see why the bay is shaped as it is and how the city has filled the coast.
At 98 metres the hill is the highest natural point in Pattaya City. The park viewpoints were established in King Bhumibol's reign, and the hill also carries the Big Buddha and a Taoist shrine, so one short drive covers views, religion and orientation in the same place.

Plan your visit
How to experience it
Ask your driver to stop at one or two viewpoints on the way down from Wat Phra Yai. Chaloem Phrakiat Park on the hill is the main one, laid out in King Bhumibol's reign with lookout areas over the bay. From there you can see the sweep of Pattaya Beach, the hotels and the boats at anchor.
There is also a lookout with the Pattaya City sign, which the national tourism authority does not promote. It is reached from the Bali Hai pier area or a nearby road and is popular with photographers. Do not climb on rocks and do not visit it alone at night.
The best light is in the late afternoon, when the haze softens and the sea turns silver. If you only have one evening, combine the hill with dinner nearby, then head back down before dark.
Plan with confidence
Small decisions that make the visit easier.
- Go late in the afternoon
- Use a taxi or app ride on the hill
