How to reach Phu Quoc by air

Phu Quoc International Airport (PQC) lies about 9 km south of Duong Dong, roughly 15 to 30 minutes by road depending on traffic. Most visitors fly via Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi. Wikipedia lists some charter and planned scheduled flights from Indian cities, which change often, so check with your airline.

How to reach Phu Quoc by train

There is no railway on Phu Quoc. If you are coming from the mainland, the nearest options are by road to ferry ports such as Rach Gia or Ha Tien, then a ferry or hydrofoil.

The island has no bridge to the mainland. Ferries and hydrofoils run from Rach Gia, Ha Tien and Hon Chong, and Wikivoyage says hydrofoils take about 2.5 hours. Most visitors fly instead.

Taxis and ride-hailing apps work in the main areas, and a car with a driver is the easiest way to do day trips. Wikivoyage warns about rough roads and uninsured scooter rentals. Free bus schemes have changed, so check locally.

Easy transfers to and in Phu Quoc

  • Hire a car and driver for day trips; avoid renting scooters on rough roads.
  • Carry travel insurance that covers medical care and evacuation; ask your hotel where the nearest clinic is.
  • Ask your hotel to prepare vegetarian or Jain-style meals in advance and carry snacks.
  • Ask the airline or railway for wheelchair or porter assistance when you book, not on the day.
  • Pre-book the pickup from the airport or station, so nobody has to negotiate with drivers after a long journey.
  • Choose arrivals in daylight where you can, and keep the first afternoon free to rest.
