Kanjeta Eco Campsite (inside the sanctuary)

Best for: Travellers who want to be in the forest at dawn and dusk

Good to know: Cottages and tents with attached bathrooms, solar power, a kitchen and dining area, and viewing platforms. Facilities are simple and booking ahead through Gujarat Tourism or the forest office is essential. Tariffs are not published.

  2. 02

    Naldha Campsite (near Dhanpur)

Best for: Waterfall walkers and small groups happy with tent camping

Good to know: A basic, tent-based camp reached by forest road; the waterfall walk starts here. Best from July to February. Facilities beyond tents are not clearly published, so confirm food, water and toilets before booking.

  3. 03

    Dahod town

Best for: Families and seniors who want a proper hotel, trains and shops

Good to know: The district headquarters and railway junction, with ordinary business hotels and services. It adds a long day drive to the sanctuary, so it suits a day trip or the night before and after your forest stay.

Hotels in Ratanmahal for families and seniors

    Kanjeta Eco Campsite

Kanjeta, inside Ratanmahal sanctuary, about 30–40 km from Devgadh Baria · Forest eco camp · Price band: ₹₹

Gujarat Tourism's main base inside Ratanmahal, with cottages, tents, an orientation centre, viewing platforms and a nature trail.

For older travellers: Cottages with attached bathrooms are the easier choice, and tents are less suitable for older travellers. Paths are uneven forest ground with limited seating, power is solar and the camp is far from hospitals, so carry medicines and keep activities short.

Before you book

What to check when booking for older travellers

  • Ask for a lift, or a ground-floor room — many heritage hotels have steps and no lift.
  • Check how far the hotel is from the sights you care about, in minutes by road, not kilometres.
  • Prefer free cancellation until close to the date, in case plans or health change.
  • Look for 24-hour reception, in-house dining and a doctor-on-call policy.
  • Read recent reviews for noise — old-city streets and wedding venues can be loud late.
