Pacing
Pacing a Salher trip for parents and children
- Skip the summit climbs; enjoy the base temples and the drive through the hills.
- Go in the cooler months and start early to avoid the midday sun.
- Carry plenty of water, snacks and any medicines; there are no chemists at the forts.
- Hire a car with a driver rather than relying on buses between villages.
- Share your plan with someone and carry a charged phone and offline map.
- Water: Fill bottles at the base tank before climbing. Water is scarce higher up, and cisterns dry as the season advances.
