The short answer
Namdang Stone Bridge: what visitors should know first
A short stop worth ten minutes on the way to or from Charaideo or Nazira, not a destination on its own. Look, take a photo and move on.
History and context
The story behind Namdang Stone Bridge
The Sivasagar district page says the bridge was built in 1703 during the reign of Rudra Singha by workmen brought from Bengal. It is described as cut from a single solid rock, with six culverts, about 60 metres long and 6.5 metres wide.
It carries traffic on the old Assam Trunk Road (NH37 at the time the page was written).

Why it matters
Why Namdang Stone Bridge is worth your time
The bridge is a rare surviving piece of Ahom infrastructure that is still in daily use. It shows that the dynasty built roads and crossings as well as temples and palaces.
It is also a reminder of how workers from outside Assam contributed to the Ahom state: the district page says the stone was cut by workmen brought from Bengal. Few visitors stop here, but those who do get a sense of how the Ahom state linked its capital to the wider region by road, and of how long a well-built stone structure can serve.

How to experience it
Stop where your driver can pull over safely. Look first at the arches and culverts from the side; the district page describes six culverts and a length of about 60 metres and a width of 6.5 metres.
Walk the verge for a view of the stonework. The bridge still carries heavy traffic, so keep an eye on the road and keep children close.
Because there are no facilities, treat it as a photo stop on the way to Charaideo, Kareng Ghar or Nazira. Combine with a tea break at a roadside shop.
