Plan 01

1 day in Ajman

  1. 01

Day 1: Fort, souks and sea-front

Start at the Ajman Museum in the old fort when it opens, and allow 45 to 90 minutes for the galleries, courtyard and wind towers. Cross to the gold and traditional souks for a short browse, then take a taxi to a late lunch at one of the city's vegetarian restaurants. Rest through the afternoon, and walk the Corniche from late afternoon until sunset.

    Day 2: Al Zorah mangroves

Visit the Al Zorah Nature Reserve in the morning, when birds are most active and the heat is lower; check current access and any guided options before you go. Keep the afternoon for rest or a beach hour, and have an early dinner near your hotel.

Pace: Moderate walking today — plan a sit-down break between stops.

With parents at Al Zorah Nature Reserve: Flat ground, but little shade and long distances between points; arrange a car or guided access. Bring water and a hat, and avoid midday and summer.

    Day 3: Masfout

Pacing

Pacing a Ajman trip for parents and children

  • Plan one outing in the morning and one after sunset; between May and September, midday heat is hard on older travellers.
  • The Ajman Museum is air-conditioned in parts and mostly level, but floors in the old fort can be uneven; wear flat, grippy shoes.
  • Use taxis between sights, and keep the hotel's address in Arabic and English on your phone.
  • Carry travel insurance and a medication list. Check where the nearest hospital is, and note that Thumbay Medicity is a large private hospital campus in Al Jurf.
  • Dress modestly: cover shoulders and knees in public places, and carry a light scarf for mosques and cold air-conditioned rooms.
  • Ask your hotel to arrange plain vegetarian or Jain-style meals in advance, as few restaurants cater to Jain diets.
