Area by area

Ajman neighbourhoods compared

  1. 01

    Old centre and Al Bustan

Best for: Travellers who want the museum and souks close by

Good to know: Walkable to the fort museum and markets, with simple city hotels. Evenings are quiet and the Corniche is a short drive or a longer walk away.

  2. 02

    Corniche and beach front

Best for: Families who want the sea and an evening walk

Good to know: Hotels and apartments facing the water, with benches and promenade close by. Sea breezes help in winter but summer afternoons remain very hot.

  3. 03

    Al Zorah

Best for: Travellers who want a resort, golf or the mangrove reserve

Good to know: A planned coastal suburb on the northern edge of the city, between Ajman and Hamriyah. It is quieter and car-dependent, with a resort and a golf club.

Sights in this area: Al Zorah Nature Reserve

  4. 04

    Al Rashidiya and Al Jurf

Best for: Budget stays near Indian vegetarian restaurants

Good to know: Residential districts with apartments and everyday shops. Several vegetarian restaurants are here, but the area is not scenic.

Before you book

What to check when booking for older travellers

  • Ask for a lift, or a ground-floor room — many heritage hotels have steps and no lift.
  • Check how far the hotel is from the sights you care about, in minutes by road, not kilometres.
  • Prefer free cancellation until close to the date, in case plans or health change.
  • Look for 24-hour reception, in-house dining and a doctor-on-call policy.
  • Read recent reviews for noise — old-city streets and wedding venues can be loud late.

Questions about staying in Ajman

Is Ajman a good base for Dubai?

It can be, because hotels are often cheaper, but commuter traffic between the emirates can be heavy, so allow extra time and avoid peak hours.
