Genting Grand and the older summit

Best for: Visitors who want a five-star base close to the Genting SkyWay

Good to know: Opened in 1981 and includes the historic casino and Spice Garden. Convenient but busy, and the casino is part of the atmosphere.

  2. 02

    First World Hotel and Plaza

Best for: Budget families who want the indoor park and plaza on the doorstep

Good to know: A three-star complex of 7,351 rooms. Busy at weekends and holidays, with long corridors; ask for a room near a lift.

  3. 03

    Resorts World Awana (mid-hill)

Best for: Quieter stays with golf and forest around

Good to know: A four-star hotel opened in 1985 at mid-hill, linked by free shuttles. Quieter than the summit, but further from the theme parks.

  4. 04

    Gohtong Jaya

Best for: Travellers who want a cheaper, ordinary town base

Good to know: A service township with a Hotel Seri Malaysia branch and the Genting SkyWay lower station. Simple and practical rather than resort-like.

Before you book

What to check when booking for older travellers

  • Ask for a lift, or a ground-floor room — many heritage hotels have steps and no lift.
  • Check how far the hotel is from the sights you care about, in minutes by road, not kilometres.
  • Prefer free cancellation until close to the date, in case plans or health change.
  • Look for 24-hour reception, in-house dining and a doctor-on-call policy.
  • Read recent reviews for noise — old-city streets and wedding venues can be loud late.
