Start in Hapoli and walk through the market while stalls are setting up. Drive to Hong village and take a slow walk with a local guide, then follow the paddy lanes toward the fields where fish are raised among the rice. After lunch, drive to Tarin Fish Farm and the nearby pines, then end with an easy view stop at Dolo Mando or Kile Pakho if energy allows.

With parents at Hong village: Lanes are uneven and sometimes muddy and there is little seating. Older visitors can do a short loop with a guide and see the main street from the car; houses are not generally wheelchair friendly.
With parents at Dolo Mando: The path is a climb on uneven ground with little seating, but it is shorter than Kile Pakho. Older travellers can enjoy the lower slopes and the road views.

Active travellers can drive to Pange for the wild orchid trail at the edge of Talley Valley Wildlife Sanctuary, followed by a short ridge stop at Kile Pakho. Those who prefer a slow day can visit Siikhe Lake for birds, try Apatani dishes at a homestay and rest before the long road out.

Guides for the stops on these routes
Pacing
Pacing a Ziro trip for parents and children
- Allow a full day for the road in. The route from Itanagar or Assam is winding and can be slowed by rain and landslides, so do not schedule a tight connection on the day you leave.
- Carry warm layers even in spring and autumn. Evenings at this altitude are cool, and winter nights can be cold.
- Choose accommodation with a heater or hot water bucket and ask about steps, bathrooms and the distance to the car.
- Walk the paddy lanes slowly. The bunds are narrow and slippery when wet, so wear shoes with good grip and consider a stick.
- Treat Kile Pakho, Dolo Mando and the Talley Valley trails as optional. The valley's main pleasures need only short, level walks.
- Carry regular medicines and a basic first-aid kit. Hospital facilities in Hapoli are limited compared with Itanagar or Guwahati.
